When a growing research organization needed a brand refresh, Instigator developed and implemented a cohesive identity across all divisions of the company.
The Opportunity
The Mapi Group is a Patient-Centered Research organization that supports Life Science companies by providing health research and commercialization services. Throughout over 40 years of business, the Mapi Group has grown and expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of smaller companies. However, its brand was not well implemented across these sub-brands, and the organization was in need of a brand refresh to include its expanded capabilities and better tell its story.
The Process
Our Instigator strategists began by working with Mapi to organize its capabilities into easy-to-understand divisions including Real World Evidence, Patient-Centered Services, Real World Strategy & Analytics, Language Services, Strategic Regulatory Services, and Mapi Research Trust. We created a brand narrative to encompass all of these capabilities and tell the updated story of Mapi now that it’s experienced significant growth.
To reflect this narrative, Instigator’s creative team refreshed Mapi’s visual identity by producing a complete branding package including a style guide, website, and the entire collection of collateral Mapi needed.
After the creation of a new identity, our team worked with Mapi to implement this new brand both externally and internally. We published external collateral to appropriate audiences and distributed style guidelines to employees throughout the company. Furthermore, Instigator strategists worked with some of Mapi’s subsidiaries to help with the implementation of their updated sub-brands and make sure the identity was used properly on all levels of the company.
Throughout the rebranding process, we noticed some gaps in Mapi’s internal communication practices, particularly between newer divisions and the corporate marketing department. Thanks to the insight of our strategists, we were able to clarify these relationships and establish efficient communication channels between Mapi employees at the corporate and business levels.
The Result
With Instigator’s creation and implementation of a refreshed brand, Mapi’s internal and external publics have a clearer understanding of the company’s structure and capabilities.
Instigator served as Mapi’s agency of record for a number of years until Mapi was acquired by ICON plc in 2017. Our strategists and designers completed hundreds of projects for Mapi and continue to work for ICON in various capacities.
